MyMichigan Partnering with Mid Michigan College to Train Phlebotomists
Alpena, Mich. April 20, 2022 – The region’s preferred health care provider and a best place to work, MyMichigan Health, in collaboration with Mid Michigan College, is offering a training opportunity for individuals interested in becoming a phlebotomist. The nine-week Phlebotomy Short-Term Training Program will be offered at MyMichigan Medical Center Midland beginning April 25, 2022, and at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena beginning May 9, 2022.
MyMichigan welcomes new phlebotomists to its team of health care professionals, and offers the opportunity to practice in an environment of excellence with patient-centered care. Laboratories at MyMichigan Medical Centers in Alpena and Midland have been recognized for service excellence and are accredited by the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists, a prestigious honor from a leading provider of laboratory accreditation and proficiency testing programs.
Phlebotomists are responsible for drawing blood, distributing samples to proper departments and preparing samples for diagnostic testing. Upon completion of the training program, students will be offered a part-time or full-time position as a phlebotomist at MyMichigan Health. With a two-year commitment, students will be reimbursed for all costs of the short-term training program, including tuition, fees and course materials.
The Phlebotomy Short-Term Training Program consists of traditional classroom instruction, combined with hands-on experience at a MyMichigan Health laboratory. The program is one of three programs in the state of Michigan accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
